Monet’s Garden
We caught a fast train (300kph) from de Gare Saint Lazare
to Vernon then a shuttle bus took us to Giverny. This is a fantastic place
gardening/painting. It was a thrill to
stand on the much painted bridge and view the water lilies just as he would
have seen them. The gardens were a
visual feast. The colour combinations
were lovely. Even though it was raining
and flowering not at its peak it was still a picture. We went for a tour through the house. It is also very colourful and a delight. Monet’s studio is now a huge shop where
everything Monet is sold. I even bought
a water lily watch. It was hard to
decide which print to buy so we bought a few.
I loved every minute of this day. Return by bus and train. We were both nodding off on our return
trip. Tea was sandwiches (rolls) at Le
Cristal two doors from LaVignon.
