Paris to Geneva by train 19th August 2010

We left Rue Vignon by taxi to Gare Du Lyon.  We were met by a ‘porter’ who shoved our bags onto a trolley and directed us to our platform.  We very quickly realised we were being scammed.  He insisted on 10 euro for this uninvited help.  We were glad to be rid of him.  We felt disappointed that this was the last contact we had with a Parisian.  Martine and Arvi had been so friendly and welcoming.  Oh well we were just glad he hadn’t mugged us.
The train was an amazing experience.  We travelled most of the distance at 300kph.  Some beautiful scenery.  We both read and snoozed.  We left Paris 11.10am and arrived Geneva 2.35pm.  Found our hotel – Hotel Suisse (Swiss). We off loaded our bags and went for a walk to get some lunch and also to find where to pick up our hire car tomorrow.  We then headed down to the lake.   It is huge 50k long and 8k across.  We went on a cruise around the lake – it was really good.  A milk shake and a delicious banana split was what we decided upon for dinner.

Then back to our room, both really tired, charge the camera batteries and ourown.
