We left early and got a taxi out the front of the
hotel. There is a set price of 15.50
euro with some allowance for heavy traffic – we agreed to 20 euro with no
tip. The drive was crazy – we are sure
they have their own system of driving.
If you need three lanes and there are only two beep your horn and make a
third. They beep all the time and now we
know why.
We sat at the station glad to be there and to be in one
piece. Our train trip was pleasant and
only one hour long. We arrived at 1pm
and by 1.10pm we had walked to our hotel.
We got a little settled and then went out and bought some lunch, which
we brought back to eat in our room. Rest
time - tuned into sleep time. We woke at
6.30 and got ready to go out for dinner.
We walked in the direction of the Trevi Fountain. We stopped a long way short of that and had a
lovely dinner at an outdoor café. Rome
will have to wait till tomorrow – home to bed
