Geneva to Milano by Train 3rd September 2010

Up at 6am, brekky at 6.30 and off to the train station across the road.  All went well and we were soon hurtling along the tracks, on our way to Italy.
The scenery was unbelievable.  The Swiss Alps were everything we had imagined.  We took lots of photos, although many will be deleted.  There was a google map to watch of our trip as we traveled along.
We arrived in Milano as arranged and with the help of our map we found our way to our hotel.  It is in the 70’s style.  Glass door and wall in the bathroom – a voyeur’s paradise.
We went for a walk to get some lunch – our first real Italian pasta – Beuno.  We walked on to the shopping area.  Not impressive – everything seems dirty and bustling with very loud heavy traffic.  Not sure if we found the main part of Milan but by the maps available we had – oh well…we found a park and the tranquility we craved and also some delicious iced coffees that we had been searching for since leaving Australia. – Perfect way to rest in the park.  We found a shorter way back to the hotel.  Time for an afternoon rest.  We woke at 6.30 and went out to buy some dinner.  Pop had salmon lasagna and I had gnocchi – not the nicest I've had but Pop loved his.  Back to our hotel and lights out at 9.30pm.

Milano was ok but we wished we had just gone straight to Venice.
